Office Of Special Prosecutor Granted GHC 170,504,000.00 Million Allocation For 2022

The Office Of Special Prosecutor, has been granted GHC 176 million allocation for 2022, to help combat corruption in the country.

The sum of One Hundred and Seventy Million,Five Hundred and Four Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 170,504,000.00) has been allocated to the office of the Special Prosecutor.
To help implement it’s programme activities for the 2022 financial year was approved by the Parliament.

The Special Prosecutor office planned to complete investigation into about 31 active cases currently being under consideration, and also investigate and prosecute of cases that are on pending.

As part of the investigation the office will also carry out what it call anti-corruption risks assessment programs, and review all of the important public contracts, legislation.

The Special Prosecutor has planned to engage about 249 staff, through recruitment and training of existing staff and resource them to convey their duties without fear or favour.
And also published an annual Ghana corruption league table.

The office want to begin the preparation of all public institution, department agencies and companies. and procurement of duty vehicles are areas the special prosecutor office is looking to address in the coming days.

“Acquisition of security surveillance, counter- surveillance and Intelligence equipment, is also high on the agenda of the office.”

As recently, Mr. Agyebeng the Special Prosecutor, addressing the general public. He assured Ghanaian that, He wasn’t sleeping in his job duties as Special Prosecutor, as he has been engaging relevant institution in that respect.

“The OSP would vigorously investigate and prosecute cased of alleged or suspected corruption and corruption related offences and recover proceeds of such offences through property tracing of property and currency in line with our vision of rendering corruption a costly enterprise”.

“As the institution specifically tasked with taking steps to prevent corruption, I resolve that in the coming year the OSP will institute and strengthen measures to prevent, suppress and repress corruption more efficiently and effectively, than has ever been done in this Republic,” the Special Prosecutor lamented.
