Multiple award-winning Reggae/Dancehall musician, Samini has finally broken his silence after he was declared the president-elect for the Student Representative Council (SRC) at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
Samini together will his running-mate Mabel Mensah garnered 307 votes against their close competitor Theophilus Quartey polled 212 votes. The GIMPA SRC elections were organized on Wednesday, June 22.
Following his victory, Samini said he proved his doubters wrong by pushing harder to win the GIMPA SRC elections. He made this known in a Twitter post.
He also thanked the people who supported him throughout.
“Thanks to all who believed and encouraged me to go for the topmost… to my doubters I say a bigger thank you for making me see the need to prove you wrong.”
After his win, he had a party with his fellow students on the campus of GIMPA on Wednesday night.
He has also received a ton of congratulatory messages from students, fans and some colleagues in the showbiz industry.
Ghanaian veteran rapper Okyeame Kwame reacted to Samini’s post and indicated that he is impressed with his colleague’s decision to go back to school.
“Congratulations Slim guy. You are truly resilient. You told me ten years ago that you will go back to school. You didn’t just go, you became SRC Prez. Wow! True mentor.”
GIMPA is a public co-educational university spread over four campuses and made up of six schools, and ten research centres located at Greenhill in Accra, Ghana.
