Prez Nana Addo Explains Why He Appointed Walewale MP As Gender Minister Designate

President Nana Akudo-Addo has elaborated on his decision to appoint Hajia Lariba Zuweira Abudu, member of Parliament for Walewale Constituency as Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister.
Prior to her appointment as the new Gender Minister, the Walewale MP served as the deputy Minister at the Gender Ministry.
President Nana Addo explaining why he chose Hajia Lariba to lead the Gender Ministry, he stressed that the Walewale MP has been outstanding through her hard-working over the years, thus he confidence in her to do the job.
“There is one also an important source of joy, and that is the elevation we have made for one of the daughters of the Nayiri; Member of Parliament for Walewale Lariba Zuwera Abudu, who has now become the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection. She is a hardworking woman and I have no doubt that she’s going to justify the confidence that I’ve got in her,” he said at the commissioning of the New ultra-modern block for the North East Regional Coordinating Council.
Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Mrs Sarah Adwoa Safo was fired by president Nana Addo and following this he has appointed Hajia Lariba Zuweira Abudu as new Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister.
About a week ago, President Nana Akufo-Addo laid off Adwoa Safo as Gender Minister who vacated her post for several months.
The President revoked Adowa Safo’s appointment letter with immediate effect as sighted by the letter signed by the Director of Communications at the office of the President.
Cecilia Abena Dapaah was then tasked as seen in the letter to act as the Minister and to continue in her role till a substantive Minister is appointed.
President Akufo-Addo was heavily criticized by Ghanaians in the past few months for the continuous appointment of Adwoa Safo as the Gender Minister though she has been out of the country since 2021.
