The Ghana Police Service has returned calm to the campus of Kumasi-based Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology [KNUST].
The main cause of the incident is not known yet but, according to multiple reports, the University hall, widely known as Katanga Hall embarked on a procession which ended up in the precincts of the Unity hall, popularly known as Conti(nental).

The rivalry between these two halls has been age-long.
Videos spotted by Znewsgh.com on several social media platforms saw students pelting stones at each other which resulted in destroying of vehicles and other properties on the campus.
Police moved in to restore calm while the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) issued a warning to any persons or group of persons harbouring intentions to embark on reprisal demonstration on campus.
3news are reporting that calm has been restored on Friday, August 19.
Visible was a joint personnel of the security agencies.
“The Police are in firm control of the situation and investigation is ongoing to arrest those behind this unfortunate, needless and unjustifiable attacks and bring them to face justice,” the police said in a statement on Friday, August 19.
“We therefore urge all law abiding members of the university community to remain calm and support the police as we deal with the situation.”

In other news, the headquarters of the Church of Pentecost in Ghana has expressed its concern over the severe decline in tithes and offerings in one its branches in Accra.
In a leaked letter sighted by Znewsgh.com, the church urges the Downtown Ofaakor branch to do well to meet its annual target for offerings and tithes despite the economic global hardship.
According to the letter, the estimated target for the half of the year was GHC 3,188,529, however, the branch was able to raise GHC 2, 780,537 with a difference of GHC 407,992.
“We are aware of the global effect of the war in Ukraine and the hardship that the Covid-19 still imposes on our members. But the above notwithstanding, let us continue to work hard at achieving our annual budget as we also pray with you,” the letter signed by Chairman, Eric Nyamekye indicated.
