Charles Wontumi Snr
Mr Hopeson Adorye, a staunch member of the ruling NPP party has said the grassroots are yearning for Kyerematen to be the presidential flagbearer of the party into the 2024 polls.
The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) are looking forward to breaking the 8-year term to become the first political party to set the record in Ghana’s political history.
According to him, they are of the view that Mr Alan Kyerematen has served the party enough.
Because of this, they are urging him to resign and indicate his intentions of leading the party.
“The grassroots are yearning for Alan Kyerematen. They keep saying that he should resign from the government and declare his intention for party business to go on.
Mr Hopeson was speaking at the march of some party supporters in the Ashanti Region in Kumasi on Saturday, 13th of August to declare their support for Mr Kyerematen.
He, however, explained that the directive by the party came at a time when organisers of the event had made advanced preparations for the march.
“I want the national executives to come out and draw the lines on what supporters and aspirants can do.”
In the race for the 2024 NPP presidential flagbearer, the likes of Mr Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong have all been tipped by some party supporters to lead, however, Mr Alan Kyerematen is also a strong contender for the position.
Meanwhile, Dr Bawumia and Mr Alan Kyerematen are yet to openly declare their interest to run for the position unlike Kennedy Agyapong who has already started campagining for the position in recent times.
