GHANA GOVERNMENT TO ALLOCATE 10 BILLION CEDIS FOR YOUTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP

The Ghana Government to allocate a package GHC 10 Billion Ghanaians Cedis to support start-up businesses and youth entrepreneurship for the next three years.

That, was according to the Finance Minister Mr Ken Ofori-Atta.

In line with the government policies to create Jobs for the youth, the government through the E-LEVY processes is to raise and allocate GHC 1 Billion each year to catalyse an ECOSYSTEM to create one million jobs.

In partnership with its developments partners, the government will further raise close to GHC 2 Billion Ghanaians cedis to support the course.

The local banks and businesses have also agreed on a package that will help boost the economy, in results will increase their small and medium enterprises ( SME) portfolio up to GHC 5 Billion Ghanaians cedis over the next three years or so.

As the government under the leadership of President NANA AKUFO-ADDO, is putting up some measures that will help kick start entrepreneurship in the country, especially amongst the youths sector.

The Finance Minister speaking on the issue with the Daily Graphic on the sidelines of the post-budget engagement with leadership, and members of Parliament MPs in Ho, the Regional capital of Volta Region.

Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta said, “The government is making the most extensive attempt in its history at kick-starting the entrepreneurial state.”

“Over the next three years, the government will commit up to GHC 1 billion annually for the YouStart initiative, while the development partners and financial institutions will complement government funding with close to GHC 2 billion and GHC 5 billion, respectively.

“This is a clarion call for a new deal ” he added.

According to Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, he will continue to engages all stakeholders and will meet with the National Union Of Ghana Students to further discuss the rollout.

The two days workshop in HO, was organised to facilitate discussions amongst the MPs the Finance Minister and all the key stakeholders to further discuss principles and critical issues of the 2022 budget.
