In an exclusive interview with Fabrizio Romano, the Brazilian wonderkid expressed his desire to leave Ajax and join Manchester United before the transfer window closes on September 2, 2022.
According to Antony, he has made clear to Ajax and even the new manager since June he wants a new challenge and the club should release him to join any club that submits a higher bid for his service.
But, Ajax has no intentions of losing the 22-years-old winger, something the Brazilian is not happy about.
Speaking to Fabrizio, after it was reported that Ajax has rejected an improved bid of million (£76m/$90m) from Manchester United, Antony lamented, “
“Today, in a meeting with the club, I expressed my old interest in leaving, only this time with a considerable offer on the table. Others had already arrived! Ajax refused with argument that they only have five days to replace me.
“I’m not asking Ajax to release me, I’m asking Ajax to sell me with the highest bid ever for Eredivisie player. I’ve been insisting on this theme since February so that the club could rebuild the team with peace of mind.”

It is clearly Antony has been affected by the refusal of Ajax to agree on a deal with Erik ten Hag’s Man United so he could link up again with his former manager and teammate, Lisandro Martinez.
The Brazilian forward hopes that his desire to leave the club will force Ajax to finally wrap things up with United in the coming, although Alfred Schreuder’s side will struggle to replace the young Brazilian.
Previously, Znewsgh.com reported that Antony missed training the last week, and even missed the Ajax Sunday game amidst United interest.
It was reported that the player had refused to go for training and was fined $50k each day he missed training. He recently resumed training with Ajax but is likely to miss their game again.
With Manchester United knowing that Antony has expressed his desire to quit Ajax for them, they may prepare a final ‘take it or leave it’ bid for the Brazilian and hope that this time around Ajax with accepting it.
