The Sunyani District Court B, has granted bail to the police officer who was arrested for allegedly harassing a lady in a vehicle in the Bono Region.
General Lance Corporal Victor Antwi Yeboah, the accused, who was charged with assault was granted bail in the sum of GH¢10,000 with one guarantor.
Mr. Victor is expected to show up at the court for the continuation of the case on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.
For now, the court presided over by his Worship Eric Daning has asked the prosecutor and the accused person and his lawyer to seek for an out of court agreement since the charges, as provided by the prosecutor in the sections 73 and 74 of the court Act 459 were all misdemeanours.
Mr. Daning stated,” meanwhile the accused is granted bail in the sum of GH¢10,000 with one guarantor to reappear Wednesday 15 of December”.
Following the fact sheet presented to the court, it is stated that the accused is stationed at the Regional Operations Unit of the Bono Regional Police Command.
on Friday, 26 November, the accused together with two other colleagues were allocated to a night patrol duty with a driver.
Mr. Victor and his colleagues started the patrol at about 6:30pm and were expected to close the next day.
he added that while on duty at about 3:00 am, they reached out to the Fiapre roundabout near the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UERN).
and they saw an unregistered Toyota Corolla on reaching the roundabout parked some few meters away from the roundabout along the road leading to Berlin-Top with the parking lights on.
when the team approached the vehicule to find out whether there are occupants in the vehicule, and what they were doing.
when the team reached the vehicle, they declared that they saw a man having sexual intercourse with a woman on the front passenger seat.
In attempt to arrest them, Lance Corporal Yeboah, held the victim and searched where she was seated but didn’t find anything.

Afterwards the accused person started to touch the thighs of the victim saying that “you are naked, you are naked” through resistance by the victim.
It was said the harassment went on for a while before the victim was arrested together with the boyfriend and sent to the Sunyani Municipal Police Station for the offence of gross indecency.
At around 2:00pm on the same day as the statement explained, the Regional Police Command saw a video of Lance Corporal Yeboah indecently touching the victim and later investigation into the matter, leading to his arrest.
during questioning, the accused person confessed having touching the thighs of the victim but explained that he did that with no bad intention.
