Ajax will receive a fee of 67 million euros (£57 million) plus add-ons from Manchester United for the Argentine central defender.
Lisandro Martinez will sign a five-year contract with an option further year after he completes his medical at Carrignton Training Complex.
Meanwhile, the 24-year old defender is yet to agree on personal terms and get his UK visa before his move can be officially announced by Man United.
Martinez’s former clubs will receive £2.2 million in solidarity payments in addition to the £8.5 million in add-ons.
He made 120 appearances for Ajax after joining from Defensa y Justicia in Argentina for £6.3 million in 2019. He also played for Newell’s Old Boys.
Martinez has seven Argentina caps since making his senior debut in March 2019.
The Argentine defender becomes Man United third signing in the summer transfer window after Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen.
Martinez played for Ajax under new United manager Erik ten Hag, where he won the Eredivisie title in 2021 and 2022, as well as the Dutch Cup in 2021.
He was also named Ajax’s 2021-22 player of the year.
