Manager Nuno, Took over Al-lttihad in July 2022, and was sacked after exchanging words with Benzema

The former Spurs boss, Nuno Espirito, Joined Al-lttihad in July 2022.

Nuno took Al-lttihad to the Saudi Pro League title last season. They have won 6 matches out of 12 this season and a defeat by Air Force Club of Iraq on Monday.

After a poor run of results by Nuno, Al-lttihad have decided to sack the spurs ex manager.

On Monday Air Force Club of Iraq in the Asian Champions League defeated the club by 2 goals to nil.

Despite boasting a star-stubbed roster, including Benzema,N’Golo Kante, Fabinho they lost against Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya.

An argument unfolded between Santo and former Real Madrid striker Benzema with led to the depature of Nuno Espirito from the team.

The incident reportedly occurred at half-time with Al-lttihad trailing 1- 0, when Nuno made a statement saying Benzema was “lazy” in his play.

“You are a great player, but it seems that you are too lazy to put pressure on your rival” Nuno told Karim Benzema according to Al Riyadiah.

The exchange began when Benzema responded saying “Don’t just talk to me, to to the whole group,”.

The exchange continued as Espirito Santo called upon the striker to lead by example so the whole team can follow and see his importance as a team leader.

Due to the departure of Espirito Nuna Santos, Assistant coach Hassan Khalifa will take temporary charge while the club search for another coach to replace Nuno.

Benzema allegedly conveyed to the club’s board that Nuno was hindering the club’s progress.

Al-ltiihad is looking for a new manager. Laurent Blanc, former manager for Lyon is rumored to be a potential replacement.

On Friday, Karim will play against Abha in the Saudi Pro League.
