According to ESPN’s Mike Coppinger, Emmanuel “Game Boy” Tagoe of Ghana and Keyshawn Davis have agreed to square off on April 8 in Newark, New Jersey.
According to the agreement, Keyshawn Davis, the current WBO Intercontinental Lightweight champion, will face Emmanuel Tagoe, his most difficult opponent to date, in his first professional 10-round battle.
In order to combat ESPN’s prospect of the year, Keyshawn Davis (7-0, 5 KOs), Emmanuel Tagoe (32-2, 15 KOs), who lost his most recent fight by unanimous decision to the unbeaten Ryan Garcia in April of last year, will need to shake off some ring rust.
Emmanuel Tagoe, who has a wealth of experience in the sweet science, hasn’t fought since April 9 in San Antonio, Texas, whereas Davis has competed three times since.
Davis won two of the three fights by knockout, and in his most recent contest on December 10, he prevailed by unanimous decision to claim the vacant WBO Inter-continental lightweight title.
The Olympic silver medalist Keyshawn Davis, who was born in Norfolk, just needed three victories in 2022 to take home ESPN’s Prospect of the Year, a distinction Tagoe must not undervalue.
Even though Shawn Davis hangs out with the top 135-pound competitors, Game Boy must not underestimate him on fight night.
The contest will improve the undercard for the main event’s lightweight matchup between Shakur Stevenson and Shuichiro Yoshino on April 8 on ESPN/ESPN+.
