GHANA TO INTRODUCE SOME OF THE WORLD STRICTEST COVID TRAVEL RULES

Ghana government, led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, are putting measures to introduce some of the world’s strictest covid travel rules. as it decided to ban all adults who has not been vaccinated from flying into the country, taking effect from Monday.

There would be no choice for secluding oneself.

For the citizens of Ghana and residents abroad are free for up to two weeks, but upon landing at the airport, will need to get the jab immediately.

The concerns of the authorities have mostly been about the flow of the infection during this festive period as December month is one of the most busiers in Ghana, especial when Ghanaian in the diaspora joins their families in the motherland to celebrate the festive period together.

Members of the European Union and the United States have avoided an outright blanket ban on unvaccinated arrivals.

Since the restrictions were introduced at the start of the pandemic, Ghana’s sea and land borders have been closed to all passengers.

The news measures will also deal with the need to present a negative PCR test for new arrivals.

To be able to fly out of Ghana, there will also be the need to be fully vaccinated.

Any Ghanaian flying out of the country and currently not vaccinated, but gets the jab at the airport will have to wait to take the second dose before he/she will be able to fly out of the country, if-not, they get one from Johnson and Johnson.

The WHO recommended an 8- to 12-week gap between the first and second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine and a 21- to 28-day gap between the two shots of the Pfizer. The Moderna and the Sputnik V also require two doses for maximum immunity.
