GFA To Secure Headline Sponsors For GPL, DOL, WPL – Henry Asante Twum

Henry Asante Twum, the spokesperson for the Ghana Football Association [GFA], has announced that his outfit is very close to securing a headline sponsor for the various leagues.

The Ghana Premier League, Division One League, and the Women’s Premier League have been without headline sponsors.

But, Asante Twum speaking on Accra-based Asempa FM said that the country’s football governing body would soon announce a headline sponsor for the various leagues ahead of the 2022/23 Ghana football season.

“In the past two seasons, the various leagues have been played without a headline sponsor and you cannot blame the current administration because we are all aware of what happened,” he said on the Ultimate Sports Show, monitored by Znewsgh.com.

“When we took office, we made the effort to stream the Women’s League on Facebook which is now being aired on MAX TV. We know it’s not enough but it is better than before.

“We have spoken to companies willing to come on board to sponsor the various leagues and I am sure before the start of the football season, the Ghana Football Association [GFA] will announce the respective companies and what they are offering the leagues,” he added.

Meanwhile, Black Galaxies head coach Annor Walker has appointed Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder Gladson Awako as the substantive captain for the team.

The former Accra Great Olympics star will assisted by Medeama’s Vincent Atingah as 1st Vice Captain and Asante Kotoko’ Imoro Ibrahim as 2nd Vice Captain.

“Earlier today we appointed Gladson Awako as Captain and he will be assisted by Vincent Atingah and Imoro Ibrahim Coach Walker said in an interview with GFA Communications.

“I urge all players to give them the necessary support to help us achieve success in our upcoming qualifiers he added.”

The Black Galaxies will take on Benin in the first leg of the CHAN qualifiers on July 24 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Coach Annor Walker also announced his squad ahead of their games in the CHAN qualifiers. Below are the final 25 man squad.

Accra Hearts of Oak player dominated the final 25 players selected to represent Ghana.
