Black Stars’ Kamaldeen Sulemana Nominated For CAF Young Player Of The Year Award

Ghana Black Stars’ young player, Kamaldeen Sulemana has been shortlisted for the CAF Young Player of The Year Award.
Kamaldeen Sulemana who found himself among nine others in the category initially made the final five nominated list after the list was cut short.

Burkina Faso and Lorient’s Dango Ouattara, Ivory Coast and RB Salzburg’s Karim Konate, Senegal and Metz’s Pape Matar Sarr, and Tunisia and Manchester United star Hannibal Mejbri are the other four young players shortlisted for the award.
The 20-year-old footballer became the most expensive teenage Ghanaian and second teenage African footballer after his deal from Nordsjaelland to Rennes last summer.
Kamaldeen Sulemana took Ligue 1 by surprise and earned a name for himself as one of the league’s most exciting players. He turned 20 in February this year.
His 2021/22 season ended prematurely following a back injury in March but he still managed five goals and two assists in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Thomas Partey and Dede Ayew and all Black Stars players have missed out on the flagship CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.
The Black Stars’ poor showing at the 2021 AFCON in January could be the main reason for the absence of Ghanaian footballers on the nominees’ list.
