Darek Boateng Hail Former Teammates Sulley Muntari

Former Ghanaian Midfielder Darek Boateng has disclosed that Sulley Muntari resisted a move by officials to place local based players in the economy class and foreign based players in business class.

Sulley Muntari, a former Ghana international midfielder who now plays for his darling club in the Ghana premier league Hearts of Oak.

The former Sunderland midfielder, has often been tagged as a dissension figure, especially following his clash with one of the management member of the Ghana Football Association

“GFA” during the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.

Darek Boateng speaking on Starr FM in Accra said, picked by ZNEWSGH correspondence Hajia Jalika.

“Sulley Muntari is most sincere Black Stars players I worked with, He always wanted the best for his colleagues.”

He added that, “No body has ever talked about this issue before, We were going to play against Brazil in England. We had played a game here in Ghana and had won 3 or 4 goals and had to go to England and play against Brazil,(in the plane) they put some of us, Me, Sulley and some of the Seniors players in the business class and put some of the local players and the young players in the economy while the Officials are sitting in the business class. Can you imagine?”

Darek Boateng further added that, ” I was sitting and Sulley came, He calls me junior. He said junior, look at what they have done and I asked” what happened? “some of the players are sitting at the economy and look at the Officials, they are sitting in the business class (Sulley Muntari responded).”

“So he called me and said, “let’s go and sit with them at the economy, So we all left and sat with them at the economy. Within five minutes, the (officials) came and said all the players should come to business class, We are coming to sit at the economy.”

“We said, we are enjoying it here, we are happy here. They should enjoy the champagne and everything there but we will be happy to sit here with our colleagues.”

Foreign based players get well treatment compared to Local based Ghanaian players which Sulley Muntari never like those preference treatment .
