BENJAMIN MENDY CHARGED WITH TWO ADDITIONAL RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT

Benjamin Mendy 27 who played for Manchester City, now faces six counts of rape and sexual assault. Mendy was initially charged with four count of rape and sexual assaults by Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

Mendy is now facing an upgraded charges of six counts of rapes and sexual assaults

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said in a statement today that it had authorised Cheshire police to charge the defender with two additional counts of rape and Louis Saha Matturie, 40, with two additional counts of rape and one count of sexual assault

Mendy who is a French has been in custody since his arrest in August and was denied bail by the judges. after a number of bail applications, were submitted. Currently, he is on remand at the HMR Altcourse in Liverpool.

The Manchester City left back, Mendy, was suspended by the club after being charged by the police, pending an investigation.He has played for the club since 2017, when he joined them from Monaco for a reported £52m.

The alleged offense took place between October 2020 and August 2021 for which the alleged unlawful act relate to four women over the age of sixteen(16).

The police added that: “Cheshire Constabulary and the Crown Prosecution Service would like to remind everyone that criminal proceedings against Matturie and Mendy are live and they have a right to a fair trial”.

Louise Saha Matturie, a co-accused has also been charged with two additional counts of rape and one sexual assault and now facing six offences in all.

A trial date had been formerly set for both offenders to go on trials on the 24th of January 2022.
