Christian Astu Twasam, the deceased Ghanaian footballer, was honored by his family, friends, other athletes, and authorities.

They gathered in Accra on Saturday, March 4, for the customary ceremony of memory for the one-week commemoration.

Moreover those who were unable to attend paid tribute to the player remotely. Two weeks had passed since the football player’s death in Turkey first made headlines.

To that effect, Minister Mustapha Hamid spoke to media outlets iterating,

“The funeral itself is going to be a state funeral, the government is going to take over every cost because of the contribution of Christian Atsu to the development of Ghana football and at the same time with the way and manner Christian Atsu passed on is something that is devastating to everyone and this is the only time that we all come together as a country to give our brother and son a befitting burial.”

The final funeral services and burial will both take place on March 17th, according to the Twasam family.

Lavishing praises on the deceased Ghanaian footballer, Abraham Nkansah, the president of Die Hard Supporters Union (Supporters of the Black Stars), pointed out that:

“I remember him in the 2015 African Cup of Nations in Gabon. In that tournament,  Atsu won the best player of the tournament and he was so instrumental.”
