M N RidwanFormer President John Agyekum Kufuor has refuted claims that he convened a meeting with the 98 NPP lawmakers who support the dismissal of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
In response, Mr. Kufuor claimed that the claims that he had invited the MPs were false and should be ignored.
On November 17, according to a statement made by his principal assistant and spokesperson, Dr. Kwabena Osei Adubofour stated: “We wish to bring to the attention of the general public that there is no truth in the said publication.”
“The office of the former President vehemently detests the developing trend in the disinformation that mischievously seeks to draw President Kufuor into issues that he has not commented on.”
Asante-Akim North MP Kwame Andy Appiah-Kubi is leading the 98 NPP lawmakers who are pushing for Mr. Ofori-Atta to be dismissed. To them, Mr. Ofori-Atta ought to be replaced by a new finance minister.
Moreover, the MPs highlighted that they do not anticipate Mr. Ofori-Atta presenting the 2023 budget statement. Thus, he should be dismissed before that.
