GOVERNMENT REWARDS GHANA’S 2020 OLYMPIC TEAM WITH $150,000 PACKAGE

The members of Ghana’s 2020 Olympic Games Team have been rewarded with a total package of $150,000 by the government.

This package was given for the accomplishment of a promise the President, Nana Akufo-Addo, made in August when he received the contingent at the Jubilee House upon their come back from the game in Tokyo, Japan.

The sitting was among other things to officially notify the president, of Ghana’s performance at the Olympic Games in Tokyo Japan, and was also attended by officials from the National Sports Authority, the Ghana Olympic Committee and the Ministry Of Youth And Sports.

Ghana’s massive number of impressions they made at the games including the a National record set by the 4×100m relay team when they booked a better position in the finals of the event. Joseph Paul Amoah also ran the fastest 200m at time of 20.35 seconds of any Ghanaian athlete at the games. Also in swimming, Abeiku Jackson who stopped his heat broke his own National record .

In spite of the many attainment by individual athlete among the 14 participants presented by Ghana during the game, the climax was a boxing medal won by youngster Samuel Takyi.

The president announced under the short ceremony that the boxer who won Ghana’s first Olympic medal in 29 years will be given a car and $10,000 in cash for the effort he made at the games.

Nana Akufo-Addo, who thanked the entire team for making Ghana proud in Japan also made a commitment to put into Carer development fund $20,000 for the 20 years old boxer.

In appreciation of their performance at the games, the president gave all the athletes and the officials medals .
