M N RidwanThe Ghana Football Association (GFA) has handed Aduana FC a hefty fine of GH¢15,000 following an investigation into the club’s behavior during their Premier League encounter with Asante Kotoko in November 2024.
Aduana FC, who are based in Dormaa, were found guilty of failing to adequately control their supporters during the Week 12 match.
According to reports, some angry fans became violent and physically attacked match officials during halftime, which led to a significant delay in the game’s second half.
The incident added to growing concerns about the safety and conduct of fans at football matches in Ghana.
In this case, the delay and unrest disrupted the natural flow of the game, and the result was a 2-0 defeat for Aduana FC against the Porcupine Warriors.
The GFA’s disciplinary committee acted swiftly, imposing the fine as a stern warning against any form of violence or misconduct by supporters.
The decision comes at a time when tensions are high, following the tragic stabbing death of Kotoko fan Francis Frimpong Pooley during a violent encounter between Kotoko and Nsoatreman in Nsoatre.
The GFA’s move to fine Aduana FC underscores the seriousness with which the association is addressing the growing issue of hooliganism in the local football scene.
With such penalties, the GFA aims to send a clear message that football matches must be conducted with respect, both on and off the pitch.
Aduana FC, a two-time league champion, has not publicly commented on the fine yet, but they will now be required to pay the fine within a set period.
This sanction should serve as a reminder to all clubs in the league that fan misconduct, especially physical attacks on officials, will not be tolerated.
The GFA hopes the penalty will help in restoring discipline and enhancing the reputation of the Ghanaian Premier League.
