M N RidwanFootball legend Samuel Eto’o made his mother’s birthday truly unforgettable by celebrating it in grand style, introducing her to some of the greatest names in the football world.
The former Barcelona and Inter Milan star celebrated his mother, Christine Eto’o, on March 27, 2025, with heartfelt tributes and a memorable experience that connected her to the legends of the beautiful game.
In an emotional post on social media, Eto’o shared his deep gratitude and love for his mother.
He wrote, “Happy birthday my love,” acknowledging her unwavering support throughout his career. Eto’o’s mother has always been by his side, believing in his dreams even when others doubted him.
To make the day even more special, Eto’o ensured that his mother met some of football’s most iconic figures.
Among those she was introduced to were Brazilian legend Ronaldo Nazário, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, and Roberto Carlos, a key member of Brazil’s 2002 World Cup-winning squad.
The pair are two of the most respected figures in football history, and their meeting was a significant moment for Eto’o’s mother, who has witnessed her son’s remarkable rise in the sport.
Eto’o also arranged for his mother to meet FIFA president Gianni Infantino, further elevating the special occasion. In a heartfelt message, Eto’o expressed his immense gratitude towards his mother, acknowledging her sacrifice and love even during difficult moments in his career.
“Mum, ‘thank you’ will never be enough to express my gratitude for your unwavering faith in me,” Eto’o said, thanking her for her belief in him when others doubted his potential.
Eto’o’s remarkable career has firmly established him as one of Africa’s greatest-ever footballers. He remains the only player in history to win back-to-back trebles with two different clubs, Barcelona and Inter Milan.
After retiring, Eto’o has ventured into football administration, continuing his legacy off the pitch.
Meanwhile, Eto’o has recently been cleared of all charges by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after winning an appeal regarding alleged ethical breaches.
The CAF Appeals Committee ruled in Eto’o’s favor, confirming the legal victory and securing his seat on the CAF Executive Committee (Exco).
This significant win marked a new chapter in his post-playing career, reinforcing his commitment to African football.
