Otto Addo Names 23-Man Squad for Black Stars’ World Cup Qualifiers

Ghana coach Otto Addo has announced a 23-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.

The team, which is set to start its preparations on March 17, 2025, will be hoping to build on its strong position in Group I of the qualifiers as it aims for a spot in the next World Cup.

The squad is led by captain Jordan Ayew and includes several notable returns, including Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey, who has rejoined the team after a six-month absence.

During that period, Ghana played four Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, but Partey will now be looking to help steer the team back to its World Cup ambitions.

Kamal Deen Sulemana, the talented winger from Southampton, also makes his return to the squad. In addition, C.D. Lugo’s Jerry Afriyie keeps his place after an impressive performance against Niger last November.

Notably, the squad also includes three home-based players—Benjamin Asare of Accra Hearts of Oak, Kamaradini Mamudu of Medeama SC, and Razak Simpson of Nations FC—highlighting the importance of domestic players in the national team setup.

One of the exciting new inclusions in the squad is Christopher Bonsu Baah, a Belgium-based player from Genk.

The left-footed right-winger, who can also play in attacking midfield, receives his first call-up to the Black Stars and will be eager to make his mark.

The Black Stars will begin their camp on Monday, March 17, and will train for four days ahead of their first match against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21.

The team will then travel to Morocco for their match against Madagascar, scheduled for Monday, March 24.

Currently, Ghana sits in second place in Group I with nine points, having won three matches and lost one.

The Black Stars will be looking to extend their strong performance and secure maximum points in these crucial qualifiers as they continue their quest to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
