Attempts by her family and neighbors to trace her whereabouts proved unsuccessful until three days later when a certain Dauda Dung confirmed she had been found.

Local media said several young men found the girl in an abandoned well in an unfinished building in the area.

It was determined that the young man visited the scene to defecate and heard the sound of running in a dry well.
