Oscar Pistorius The South African Blade Runner To Meet Reeva Steenkamp Parents As He Bids For Parole

SOUTH AFRICA, the Olympics athlete Oscar Pistorius, popularly known as “blade runner”.
Who in 2013 shot dead his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, which he claimed to mistook her to an intruder.

In 2013 Oscar the Olympic athlete maintained his innocence throughout the trial of the shooting of Ms Steenkamp, that shocked the world. Do to the popularity of both of them.
In 2014 Oscar was found guilty of manslaughter, and was sentenced to five years in prison.
But that sentence was overturned in 2015 by the Supreme Court, after he was charged and found guilty of murder.

In 2017 after a lengthy legal battle, he was sentenced to 13 years 5 months in prison.
But after serving half of the jail terms, he’s now eligible for parole,
Which means Oscar and the Family of Reeva Steenkamp would have to face each other once again for the parole hearing.

According to South Africa’s Department of Correctional Services.
“They were talking about setting up a meeting between the Steenkamp family and Pistorius, as part of his restorative justice process”.

The statement further say that “offenders must acknowledge and take responsibility for their actions, and that of the restorative process is an opportunity for the parties to reconcile or an apology”.

Background

In 2013 The ex Olympics athlete Oscar Pistorius, who was famously known of running on prosthetic legs/blade.
Shot and kill his then girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp four times through a closed toilet door, and then call the emergency service and claimed to fatally shoot his girlfriend, as he mistook her to an intruder.

He was initially found guilty for manslaughter and jailed for 5 years in prison. But that sentence was overturned by the Supreme Court after he was found guilty of murder. And the jailed term was increased to 13 years, even though Oscar Pistorius, has been sighted several times of been innocent.

He has asked the parents of Reeva Steenkamp for forgiveness.

Ms June the mother of Reeva Steenkamp, said that “she has indeed forgiven Oscar, however that doesn’t mean that he must not pay for what he has done”.
