David Nii Commey Ankrah, Henschel Tabi Frempong-Manso, and Benedict Ofori Debrah stood out among the best academic performers in the region, alongside a Liberian student.
David Nii Commey Ankrah claimed first place, sharing the top honor with the Liberian winner, while Henschel Tabi Frempong-Manso and Benedict Ofori Debrah secured second and third positions, respectively.
These exceptional students emerged from over 1 million candidates who sat for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) across The Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone.
The prestigious awards were presented at the 73rd Annual Council Meeting of WAEC, held from March 17 to 21, 2025, in Monrovia, where the top academic achievers from across the region were celebrated.
Benedict Ofori Debrah, an alumnus of Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (Presby Boys), earned straight A1s in all eight of his subjects, securing a spot among the elite trio.
He is currently studying for a BSc in Human Biology at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Henschel Tabi Frempong-Manso, the second-place winner and a graduate of Kade Senior High Technical School, also achieved straight A1s and is now pursuing studies at KNUST.
The awards recognize the excellence of students who excel in the WASSCE, an important academic milestone for students in West Africa.
Benedict credits his success to the strong academic foundation he received at Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School, a school known for producing top scholars in the country.
These remarkable achievements by Ghanaian students continue to highlight the country’s commitment to academic excellence, and the success of these individuals serves as a beacon of inspiration to future students striving for greatness.
