Standards Authority Workers Demand Answers Over Colleague’s Sudden Death
The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) Branch of the Public Sector Workers Union (PSWU) is up in arms over the sudden death of their colleague, Mr. Stanley Nagetey.
The GSA branch has demanded that the management of the establishment carry out an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
According to reports, the GSA branch held a general meeting on April 25, 2023, where they resolved to carry out a series of protest actions if an enquiry into Mr. Nagetey’s death is not undertaken by then. These actions are set to culminate in a demonstration on 1st May 2023, which is Workers Day.
As part of the protest actions, members of the GSA branch resolved to wear red and black with red bands to mourn their colleague from Wednesday, 26th April 2023.
Staff will also picket at the forecourt of the Administration Block from 26th to 28th April 2023 until Management acts on the contents of the Union’s letter dated 4th March 2023, which demanded an investigation into the untimely death of Mr. Stanley Nagetey.
The GSA branch has also planned to carry placards at the May Day celebration to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with Management’s refusal to conduct an investigation into the sudden death of Mr. Stanley Nagetey on 1st May 2023.
If Management refuses to act by 2nd May 2023, the GSA branch has resolved to have a press conference to tell their story to Ghanaians.
The sudden death of Mr. Stanley Nagetey has left his colleagues at the GSA branch shocked and saddened.
The GSA branch is demanding that Management conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death to provide them with closure and prevent such incidents from happening again in the future.
The GSA branch of the PSWU is urging the public to support their cause by standing with them during their protest actions. The branch hopes that their actions will draw attention to the need for Management to take the welfare and safety of their staff seriously.
