Sista Afia Calls Out Industry Colleagues for Lack of Support: ‘No More Free Help'

Ghanaian musician Sista Afia has made it clear that she will no longer be supporting certain colleagues in the music industry after expressing her frustration over their lack of reciprocity.

Known for her chart-topping hits like “Jeje” and her vibrant, outgoing personality, Sista Afia has often been one of the most supportive figures in the Ghanaian music scene.

She has frequently collaborated with other artists, promoted their work on her social media platforms, and even welcomed them into her home.

However, in a candid interview on Accra-based UTV, she revealed that her goodwill had not been reciprocated by some of her peers.

“I recently released a new song and I expected my colleagues to share it, like I always do for them. But many of them, including two specific artists I’ve supported a lot, failed to do so,” Sista Afia said during the interview.

“These people know who they are.

This is not an attack on the whole industry, but I’m hurt by how these two individuals treated me. I will no longer go out of my way to support them.”

While she chose not to name the artists, her comments have sparked a wave of reactions from fans and other industry figures.

Many expressed sympathy, while others questioned the dynamics of support within the entertainment sector, where collaboration and visibility are key to success.

Sista Afia went on to emphasize that she is not asking for everyone to support her, but simply for a sense of mutual respect.

“If I’ve been there for you, why can’t you do the same for me?” she continued. “It’s not about forcing anyone, but it’s about showing appreciation and solidarity.”

Her comments have ignited a conversation about the importance of mutual support among artists, especially in an industry that often thrives on collaboration.

Industry experts, like Nana Kwasi, a music promoter in Accra, pointed out that such frustrations are not uncommon in a competitive environment.

“Sista Afia’s frustration is valid,” he said. “Artists should support one another if they expect support in return.”

Despite the disappointment, Sista Afia remains focused on her music career. Her latest song is already receiving attention and making waves on streaming platforms, thanks in part to her loyal fan base. She also teased upcoming projects, hinting at new collaborations.

Sista Afia’s decision to speak out reflects her desire for genuine support within the music community.

The question now is whether her colleagues will heed her words and foster a more collaborative and supportive environment moving forward.
