MC Portfolio Issues Apology to Shatta Wale and Fans After Controversial Remarks

MC Portfolio has formally apologized to dancehall artist Shatta Wale and his dedicated fanbase following comments made during a broadcast that sparked significant backlash.

The controversy began during an interview on Angel FM in Kumasi, where MC Portfolio, speaking with fellow artist Stonebwoy, revealed that certain Bhim Nation supporters had suggested he reach out to Shatta Wale’s mother to return a GHC 5,000 gift Wale had previously given him.

The suggestion seemed to be a move to make amends with Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale’s rival, and it quickly stirred tensions in the volatile Ghanaian music scene.

What followed was an even more heated exchange when Mawuli Ekpe Peter, a staunch Shatta Wale supporter also known as Abro, confronted MC Portfolio about his comments.

The confrontation intensified, nearly derailing the program. Initially, MC Portfolio dismissed the concerns raised by Abro and others.

However, after taking a step back and reflecting on the situation, the MC came to the realization that his remarks had been insensitive and could have hurt Shatta Wale and his massive fanbase, known as the SM community.

In a heartfelt apology broadcasted during the Fakye Showbiz segment on Fakye TV, MC Portfolio expressed deep regret for his words.

“I deeply regret the comments I made,” he stated. “I understand now how they could have hurt Shatta Wale and his fans, and I sincerely apologize.

My words were ill-chosen, and I recognize the importance of being mindful of the impact they have.”

The incident has once again highlighted the intense rivalry between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, two of Ghana’s most prominent artists.
