President Mahama Urges China to Invest More in Ghana’s Future

Former President John Dramani Mahama has called for strengthened economic ties between Ghana and China, inviting the Chinese investor community to explore opportunities for collaboration that will benefit both nations.

Speaking at the Chinese Lantern Festival Celebration at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Sunday evening, President Mahama emphasized that Ghana is open for business once again, highlighting the country’s potential for growth and development.

In his address, Mahama acknowledged the significant contributions of Chinese businesses to Ghana’s economy, particularly in sectors such as construction, manufacturing, agriculture, mining, and trade.

He pointed out that Chinese businesses have played a crucial role in helping to drive economic activity in these key industries, creating jobs and boosting the country’s infrastructure.

“The Chinese community here has contributed significantly to our economy,” Mahama said.

“Ghanaian businesses continue to explore opportunities in China, which further strengthens the economic ties between our two nations.”

The Chinese Lantern Festival, celebrated as a symbol of unity and hope, provided the perfect setting for Mahama’s message, underscoring the importance of cultural and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The event brought together people from both Ghana and China, highlighting the mutual respect and shared goals of both nations.

Reaffirming his commitment to economic growth, President Mahama reassured investors that Ghana is focused on creating an environment conducive to business.

He emphasized that Ghana is ready to provide opportunities for Chinese investors, calling on them to consider the many areas where they can invest and collaborate for the shared benefit of both nations.

“As I said in my inaugural address, Ghana is open for business again, and I invite our comrades in the Chinese investor community to look at the opportunities Ghana has to offer,” Mahama stated.

“Let’s create a win-win situation for our two people.”

This call for enhanced economic cooperation comes at a time when Ghana is actively seeking foreign direct investment to accelerate its economic recovery.

The former president’s remarks are a timely reminder of the importance of foreign partnerships in helping to generate employment, improve infrastructure, and foster long-term economic prosperity in the country.
