Parliament's Appointments Committee Vetting Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah for Lands Ministry

The Appointments Committee of Ghana’s Parliament is currently conducting the vetting of Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, who has been nominated to lead the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.

The vetting process began at 9 a.m. today, January 27, 2025, and is still underway.

Buah, a former Deputy Minister of the same ministry, is now in line to head the critical sector that oversees land management, natural resource governance, and environmental sustainability.

His nomination is seen as an important decision, as the Ministry plays a vital role in managing the country’s land resources, addressing land disputes, and ensuring sustainable use of natural resources.

The outcome of today’s vetting session will determine whether Buah will be officially appointed to take the helm of the Ministry.

His extensive experience in the sector, particularly during his tenure as Deputy Minister, is expected to be a key factor in the committee’s assessment.

The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has faced several challenges in recent years, including illegal mining activities, land encroachments, and the management of the country’s forest resources.

If confirmed, Buah’s leadership will be crucial in addressing these pressing issues and driving forward reforms in the sector.

As the vetting continues, all eyes are on Parliament’s Appointments Committee to see if Buah’s appointment will be approved, paving the way for him to lead the Ministry in the coming months.
