A devastating fire explosion in the Obuasi Municipality of the Ashanti Region has left one person feared dead, three others injured, and more than 20 vehicles completely destroyed.

The incident occurred at Bogobiri, a well-known area within the municipality, on December 13, 2024.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the explosion was caused by welding activity inside a garage.

The intense heat from the welding ignited flammable materials nearby, leading to a massive blaze that quickly engulfed the area.

The fire caused extensive damage, including the total destruction of over 20 cars parked near the site.

The GNFS has issued a public statement urging caution, advising residents and motorists to avoid the affected area.

“For the safety of all, we recommend the use of alternative routes to avoid further harm,” the statement said.
