Several individuals injured at Mampongten in the Ashanti region following a violent clash between two youth groups.

The security personnel had to be there to stop revenge attack from any of the groups involved.

Five of the individuals had minor machete wounds whiles three are suffering dangerous injuries.

The violent clash has resulted in the destruction of many properties.

People in the community said, there have been long-running contention between the groups but have been surprised by the latest clash.

According to local source, the two groups were prevented by the police when they clashed for the second time, one group had lately attacked the other and had had two people injured.

This happened because a man was robbed and was also injured with machete, which made some members of the Bronum Zongo community angry and fought back.

“On Friday evening, December 24 at about 8pm, Mohammed Zakiu was attacked and robbed at Abensenase by two individuals when he stepped out to buy food. He sustained multiple machete wounds on his face and some parts of his body”.

”This angered some zongo youth who also stormed the area and attacked residents leading to the injury of two. On Monday evening, December 27 youth of Abensenase and Bronum clashed again but the police intervened swiftly to maintain law and order”, Assemblyman for the Bronum Yaminu area Suleiman, told 3news.

One victim, Mohammed Zakiu has lost his left eye after treatment.

And two other persons in critical situation at the Methodist Faith hospital at Ankaase.

The police are trying to find a lasting peace to the situation, has met with the leadership of two communities.

The police has also intended to patrol the two communities every evening until total peace returns.

Other suspects are also being searched for by the police.

The Kwabre East municipal security council will be having an emergency meeting on Wednesday, 29th December 2021.
