A shocking tragedy has struck the village of Esaase in the Agona West District, where a 48-year-old farmer, Stephen Alartey, is accused of brutally k!lling his wife and their seven-year-old daughter.
The crime has left the community reeling, with the suspect still on the run.
According to reports, Alartey invited his wife, Aku Motso, 37, and their three children, who had been living with their grandmother in Agona Kwaman, to join him in Esaase.
As they made their way to the village, Alartey reportedly chose a less-traveled route. It was during this journey that the unthinkable happened.
Alartey allegedly attacked his wife and daughter with a cement block, striking them multiple times. Both victims died at the scene from their injuries.
A hunter, who was passing by and heard the cries for help, rushed to the scene. Alartey, seemingly calm, reportedly asked the hunter to guide him to the police station to file a report.
However, when the hunter suggested that Alartey lead the way instead, the situation took a violent turn.
Alartey allegedly struck the hunter with another cement block, knocking him unconscious, before using a cutlass to inflict severe head injuries on him.
