The methodology Anas Aremeyaw Anas uses in the course of his undercover investigations has come under intense scrutiny, with some people holding the opinion that the journalist doesn’t actually conduct any “investigative” work but rather “entraps” and “entices” his victims with money they can’t refuse.
Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, one of the founding members of the ruling NPP, is one of the people who think so.
He asserts that it is necessary to examine the journalist’s method of exposing his undercover reporting to the public.
In an interview with Accra-based Joy FM, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe remarked that Abdul Malik Kweku Baako’s protégé does not practice investigative journalism and does not meet the criteria to be referred to as an investigative journalist.
“I have made it clear that I personally don’t believe Anas. I don’t believe he is an investigative journalist. An investigative journalist does his works in such a way that all the points that he got are so important to him that no one ever hears about it,”
He wonders why Anas Aremeyaw Anas, who worked on this documentary, decided to first show it to the government before releasing it to the general public.
On that account, he said:“The first thing he should do is to release it to the public, in the public hall or something.
But here we have a situation where this particular investigative journalist when he comes out with something, makes sure it’s seen by the leaders of the country before it gets to the public.
In his last investigative work, the names of the President and the Vice President came in. What has happened? We should stop the sort of thinking that the people of this country are fools.”
