Ghanaian socialite and musician Mona Faiz Montrage, popularly known as Hajia4Real, is expected to be released from a U.S. federal detention center today, May 22, 2025.

This comes nearly a year after she was sentenced for her role in a major romance scam case that spanned several years.

Hajia4Real, once a well-known figure in Ghana’s entertainment and influencer circles, was sentenced on June 28, 2024, to one year and one day at the Federal Detention Centre in Philadelphia.

The conviction stemmed from her involvement in a fraudulent scheme that targeted individuals and businesses across the United States between 2013 and 2019.

Although her sentence officially began in June, she voluntarily surrendered to authorities on July 29, 2024, to begin serving her time.

In addition to her jail time, the court ordered Mona to forfeit $216,475 and pay $1,387,458 in restitution to her victims.

These financial penalties reflect the scale and impact of the scam, which reportedly spanned multiple states and included fake identities and online deception.

Local media reports suggest that Mona will be flying back to Ghana immediately after her release. Sources indicate that as part of her plea deal, she agreed to self-deportation once her sentence was completed.

However, freedom may come with strings attached. U.S. authorities have announced they will be monitoring her movements for the next three years, even while she resides in Ghana. This continued oversight highlights the seriousness of the case and the international nature of the crime.

As Mona prepares to return home, many Ghanaians remain divided on the news. Some view her as a cautionary tale about the dangers of chasing fast fame and fortune, while others remain sympathetic, seeing her as a young woman who made mistakes and deserves a second chance.

Whether she returns to the spotlight or chooses a quieter life, all eyes will be on Hajia4Real in the days ahead.
