M N RidwanAs Ghanaians prepare for the highly anticipated December 7, 2024, elections, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have confirmed the deployment of military personnel to strategic locations across the country.
This move is aimed at ensuring the security and smooth conduct of the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
The GAF emphasized that the deployment of military personnel would not be at polling stations but rather at key locations where their support may be needed.
According to Brigadier General E. Aggrey-Quashie, Director-General of Public Relations for the GAF, the military’s role will be to provide backup support to the Ghana Police Service (GPS), which will remain responsible for overseeing security at polling stations.
The military will only intervene if requested by the police.
This deployment is part of the government’s broader strategy to maintain peace and order during the elections.
The GAF’s statement reassured the public that the military’s presence in local communities should not cause alarm.
It noted that the troops’ role is limited to standby support, ensuring the election proceeds smoothly without interruptions.
With the election day just around the corner, the Ghanaian government has taken extensive steps to prepare for a peaceful and fair voting process.
The cooperation between the police and military aims to address any security concerns and safeguard the integrity of the election, which is expected to be one of the most crucial in the country’s history.
As citizens get ready to cast their ballots, the presence of the military ensures that all necessary measures are in place to protect voters and maintain the democratic process.
This partnership between the Ghana Armed Forces and the Ghana Police Service highlights the commitment to a peaceful and free election.
