EC Reschedules Nominations for Nkoranza North and South District Elections

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has announced a change in the nomination schedule for the upcoming District Level Elections in Nkoranza North and South, as well as for other vacant electoral areas across the country.

The new dates for the receipt of nominations are now set for Monday, April 7 to Thursday, April 10, 2025.

Initially scheduled for April 1 to April 4, the nomination period was moved to accommodate the public holiday on April 1, 2025, declared by President John Dramani Mahama.

The EC clarified that the time and locations for submitting nominations remain unchanged, and all prospective candidates are urged to note the revised dates.

In a statement released on March 28, the EC emphasized that candidates must submit their completed nomination forms in quadruplicate.

These forms should be delivered personally or by a proposer or seconder to the Returning Officer of the Electoral Area for which the candidate is contesting.

Along with the forms, candidates are also required to submit two copies of a recent bust-sized photograph with a red background.

Nominations can be submitted between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m., and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the scheduled days.

The rescheduled District Level Elections, slated for Tuesday, May 13, 2025, aim to elect new Assembly and Unit Committee Members, whose terms have expired.

Additionally, by-elections will be held to fill vacancies left by the resignation or death of some Assembly Members.

The upcoming elections are in line with the District Level Elections Regulations, 2015 (C.I. 89), and the EC is urging all eligible candidates to ensure they meet the revised nomination deadlines to avoid delays.

The announcement comes as the EC prepares for a busy election season and aims to ensure smooth and fair elections in the affected districts.
