Hollywood's Longest Divorce Battle Ends as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Finalize Split

After a lengthy and contentious eight-year battle, Hollywood ex-couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have finally reached a settlement in their divorce.

The pair, once one of the most high-profile couples in entertainment, officially ended their marriage, bringing an end to a long-running legal dispute.

Jolie’s lawyer, James Simon, released a statement on December 30, 2024, to Page Six, noting the emotional toll the process has taken on the actress.

“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,” Simon stated. “

This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

The divorce saga began in September 2016 when Jolie filed for separation, citing irreconcilable differences.

Over the years, the couple has battled over custody of their six children, finances, and business matters.

One of the key flashpoints in the publicized case was the infamous private plane incident, which occurred just days before Jolie’s filing.

Allegations of Pitt’s abuse surfaced, including accusations of choking one child and striking another. However, the FBI and the Department of Children and Family Services cleared Pitt of any wrongdoing, and he has consistently denied the accusations.

Throughout their relationship, Pitt and Jolie built a blended family, adopting children from Cambodia, Ethiopia, and Vietnam, while also having biological children together.

The couple’s marriage in 2014 at their estate, Château Miraval in France, seemed to mark the peak of their relationship, but their union would soon face the turbulence that led to its end.

The couple has spent years negotiating custody and financial settlements. In 2021, a judge awarded Pitt joint custody, though it was overturned due to a conflict of interest.

Their business dealings also fueled tension, particularly after Jolie sold her stake in their wine company, Miraval Wines, leading Pitt to sue her for violating their agreement.

With this final settlement, the long chapter of their divorce is closed, though both parties will continue to navigate co-parenting and their ongoing business matters.
