Assemblyman Claims NDC Thugs Tortured Him on Regional Chairman’s Orders

A shocking claim has come from Alfred Agandaa, a 37-year-old assemblyman for Kwabia in the Kintampo South District of the Bono East Region.

Agandaa, also known as Tutu, has accused the regional chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Unas Owusu, of orchestrating his kidnapping and brutal assault.

The incident took place after Agandaa allegedly spoke out against Owusu regarding a controversial matter involving 200 bags of rice that had been seized from a warehouse once owned by former MP Alexander Gyan.

Agandaa, who claims to have been vocal about the mishandling of the rice, says he was targeted for questioning the regional chairman’s role in the distribution of the rice.

Agandaa reported the incident to the police in Kintampo and is currently recovering at the Kintampo Municipal Hospital, where he was treated for severe injuries.

He describes how four men, posing as national security operatives, kidnapped him from the Yakam Hotel in Kintampo.

He was then driven out of town, beaten along the way, and accused of insulting key political figures.

The attackers allegedly took him to a remote area near Jema, where they continued the assault. Agandaa recalled hearing one of his captors say they had been ordered to “finish him.”

After the beating, they transported him to Owusu’s office, where the violence continued in front of the chairman.

Agandaa was reportedly told that assemblymen should not believe they had control over Kintampo South and warned that others would suffer the same fate.

While Agandaa was locked in an office to prevent further harm, his phone was used to call political leaders, including MP Felicia Adjei.

Agandaa explained his situation to her, and she was reportedly furious. She demanded his immediate release, calling the actions of his captors unacceptable.

NDC General Secretary Isaac Adaebsa confirmed he had spoken to the regional chairman, who claimed Agandaa had insulted him, but denied any involvement in the assault.

The incident has caused a stir within the NDC, with party leaders expressing shock and calling for a full investigation.
