  1. A woman from Assin Fosu, Esi Affumwaa, 48, has been granted bail following allegations that she b!t a customer’s testicle during an argument over a small debt.
  2. Affumwaa, an Akpeteshie seller and farmer, appeared in court on February 28, 2025, to face charges of assault after the disturbing incident took place on February 26, 2024.

The Assin Fosu District Court, presided over by His Worship Abdul Majid Iliasu, granted Affumwaa bail in the amount of GH¢10,000 with two sureties, one of whom must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

Affumwaa was charged with assaulting 36-year-old Karim Osman, a local farmer, after a confrontation that began over a debt of just GH¢2.40.

According to the prosecution, Osman visited Affumwaa’s home on the afternoon of February 26, 2024, to purchase a cigarette.

She then allegedly bit his testicle, causing severe injury and profuse bleeding. Osman immediately reported the incident to the police, leading to Affumwaa’s arrest.

During police interrogation, Affumwaa admitted to harming Osman but claimed that she acted in self-defense after Osman allegedly caused her to fall.

In court, she pleaded guilty to the assault with an explanation, stating that while she did squeeze Osman’s testicle during the altercation, she did not bite him as initially reported.
