Actor and University Lecturer Columbus Irisoanga Dead at 60

M N RidwanNollywood has been dealt a heavy blow with the passing of actor Columbus Irisoanga, confirmed by his colleague and fellow actor, Hilda Dokubo.
Irisoanga, best known for his powerful role as the chief priest “Igbudu” in the 2001 movie Isakaba, died recently, leaving the Nigerian film industry in shock.
Taking to Instagram to express her grief, Hilda Dokubo shared a heartfelt tribute: “There can’t be shortage of Angels in heaven that the few here are called home like this na! This one is heavy on Uniport Rivers state Nollywood.”
She continued with a poignant message: “Our uncle Coli @colu_mbusirisoanga has gone to be with the Lord.”
The outpouring of emotion from fellow actors and fans highlights the significant impact Irisoanga had on Nollywood and those who worked with him.
In addition to his successful acting career, Columbus Irisoanga was also a dedicated academic.
He served as a senior lecturer in the Theatre Arts department at the University of Port Harcourt, where he mentored many students in the field of drama and film. His dual role as an educator and actor made him a beloved figure in both Nollywood and academia.
Irisoanga’s legacy in the Nigerian film industry will live on through the numerous roles he played, and his death marks a great loss for Nollywood.
