M N RidwanPresident John Mahama has called on Ghanaian youth to embrace digital innovation, education, and discipline to stay competitive in today’s fast-evolving global economy.
Speaking at the 2025 National Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations on March 31 at Black Star Square, Mahama highlighted the importance of acquiring skills relevant to the digital age, urging young people to equip themselves with the tools needed to thrive locally and internationally.
Prez Mahama emphasized that the youth play a crucial role in shaping the nation’s future and that embracing digital skills is essential for navigating both current and future economic challenges.
He encouraged them to focus on acquiring expertise in critical areas such as coding, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and entrepreneurship.
These skills, he argued, are key to securing a successful future in a rapidly changing world.
The Eid-ul-Fitr celebration, which marks the end of Ramadan, is a time for reflection, prayer, and thanksgiving among Muslims in Ghana.
During his speech, Prez Mahama also urged the youth to balance their faith with their educational and professional pursuits.
He pointed out that while it is important to be a faithful Muslim, it is equally essential to be an educated one, stressing that education and discipline are key to success.
“To our young people, I say Ghana’s future is in your hands. In this era of digital transformation, economic challenges, and global competition, our youth must equip themselves with the necessary skills, knowledge, and discipline to thrive,” Mahama said.
The former president further reassured the audience that under his leadership, there would be a concerted effort to create an environment conducive to youth empowerment and development.
He particularly encouraged Muslim youth to seize every opportunity to develop their skills, noting that with dedication and hard work, they could make significant contributions to the country’s progress.
