$2B Lottery Winner Faces Heartbreaking Loss as Malibu Mansion Burns in Wildfires

Edwin Castro, the lucky winner of the record-breaking $2.04 billion Powerball lottery prize, has faced an unimaginable setback.

His luxurious Malibu mansion, valued at £3 million, was destroyed in the ongoing wildfires ravaging Los Angeles.

Castro, who claimed his life-changing prize in November 2024, had purchased the Malibu home as one of his three properties.

The mansion was reduced to ashes as the wildfires swept through the region, with footage from The US Sun showing the devastating aftermath.

The mansion, situated in one of the most desirable areas of Malibu, was part of Castro’s dream real estate portfolio, which also included a £20.7 million mansion in West Hollywood and a home in Altadena.

The fires have left him without one of his prized possessions, just months after he reportedly enhanced security measures around the property.

The fires, which are believed to be the worst Los Angeles has ever experienced, have caused widespread destruction across the city, particularly in the Palisades and Eaton areas.

The blazes have claimed the lives of at least 10 people, with many more injured as the flames continue to spread.

Thousands of acres have been affected, and the destruction is estimated to exceed $150 billion.

Despite the heroic efforts of firefighters, the fires remain a major threat, leaving countless residents devastated by the loss of homes and loved ones.

As the fires rage on, the toll on both lives and property continues to rise, making it one of the most catastrophic wildfire seasons in recent history.
