The Islamic community in New Jersey is mourning the loss of Shaheer Ansari, a 15-year-old student from the Islamic Society of Central Jersey (ISCJ), who tragically lost his life in a car accident on January 1, 2025.

The ISCJ shared the heartbreaking news in a “Janazza, Dua, Azza” alert on social media, notifying the community of Shaheer’s passing.

Shaheer, the son of Khurram Anwer Ansari and Aliya Khurram, was a vibrant and dedicated young man deeply involved in his faith and community.

Despite his young age, he had made significant contributions to his local Islamic community. Shaheer served as a counselor for the Muslim Youth Community Center (MYCC), as well as a counselor for the Quran and Me Camp.

He was also an active volunteer at the Muslim Center of Greater Princeton (MCGP) and helped as a teaching assistant at the ISCJ’s Saturday Day School for Kindergarten students.

His family friend, Umber Mansoor, shared heartfelt words in remembrance of Shaheer, describing him as “a remarkable young man and a role model for both the young and the old.”

Mansoor also highlighted Shaheer’s unwavering dedication to helping others, saying that he had touched the lives of so many within his community through his kindness and willingness to serve.

Shaheer’s sudden and tragic death has left family members, friends, and fellow community members devastated.

Shaheer was not just a student but a beloved and respected figure in his community, admired for his good character and his commitment to making a difference.

The funeral service for Shaheer was held on January 3, 2025, at Conover Road, Millstone, New Jersey, where his community came together to honour his memory and offered their prayers.

As the Islamic Society of Central Jersey and the wider Muslim community grieve this loss, Shaheer Ansari will be remembered for his selfless contributions and the positive impact he made on the lives of those around him.
