M N RidwanThe West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially opened the registration process for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, First Series.
This new development offers students an opportunity to retake their exams and improve their grades without the lengthy wait of an entire year.
WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, announced the registration period on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
According to Kapi, the registration will remain open until Wednesday, January 8, 2025. This initiative, known as WASSCE PC1, is designed to streamline the process for candidates wishing to resit one or two papers, giving them a quicker route to improving their results.
Previously, candidates wishing to retake exams had to wait for a full cycle before they could participate again, but this new system offers a faster and more efficient pathway.
Mr. Kapi also highlighted during a broadcast on JoyNews AM Show that the examination would take place from January 24 to February 15, 2025, giving students a chance to improve their academic performance in just a matter of weeks.
Prospective candidates who wish to register for the First Series of the WASSCE are urged to visit WAEC’s official website for detailed instructions on how to complete the registration process.
Candidates must also register through accredited internet cafés that have been approved by the council.
The upcoming exams are set to be held under secure, standardized conditions, ensuring that WAEC maintains its high standards of integrity and credibility.
As part of its commitment to providing accessible opportunities for students, the council aims to uphold fairness and quality throughout the examination process.
Candidates with further questions or who need assistance with their registration are encouraged to reach out to WAEC’s official communication channels for support.
