A 42-year-old man in Lusaka has filed for divorce after his wife, 34, was photographed with American R&B singer Chris Brown during a VIP “meet and greet” at his recent concert in South Africa.

The controversial photo shows Brown embracing the woman from behind and kissing her on the cheek, an image that the husband described as disrespectful and demeaning. He claimed that the photo, taken at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, caused him public embarrassment and emotional distress.

In court documents filed in Lusaka, the husband argued, “My wife acted in a manner unbecoming of a married woman. This picture has embarrassed me publicly and caused emotional distress.”

He further stated that her actions were inappropriate for someone in a committed relationship.

However, the wife defended her actions, asserting that the kiss was purely platonic and had been misinterpreted.

She described the interaction as a lighthearted moment during a fan engagement, emphasizing that no disrespect was intended toward her husband.

“It was just a playful moment. There was nothing romantic about it,” she told the court.

She also accused her husband of using the photo as a way to highlight deeper, unresolved issues in their marriage, suggesting that the divorce was not solely about the kiss but rather a culmination of ongoing problems.

The woman had attended Chris Brown’s highly anticipated concert at FNB Stadium, where a VIP “meet and greet” package allowed fans to interact with the artist.

The package, priced at around $1,000, included photo opportunities, and Chris Brown is known for engaging closely with female fans during these sessions.

While many attendees see these moments as memorable fan experiences, they have sparked debates online about the boundaries between artists and fans.

While the interactions at these meet-and-greet events are consensual, this incident has sparked a wider conversation about boundaries, respect, and the expectations of married life.
