Nation School Denies Claims of Harsh Discipline, Clarifies Court Ruling

New Nation School has strongly denied recent reports claiming that the Human Rights High Court in Accra found its disciplinary actions to be harsh and unlawful.

The school has labeled the media reports, particularly those from the Ghana News Agency (GNA), as misleading and inaccurate.

In an official statement released on December 28, Dr. Esther Onah, the director and spokesperson for the school, clarified that the court ruling actually favored the school.

Contrary to the claims in some media outlets, the court dismissed allegations that the school’s disciplinary measures violated students’ rights.

It further confirmed that the school’s actions were within its legal authority and did not infringe on students’ freedom of expression.

Dr. Onah criticized the selective quoting of the court’s judgment, which she argued led to a distorted narrative.

“The reports have misrepresented the facts and created a false impression of wrongdoing,” she said.

“When viewed in its full context, the judgment clearly shows that the school acted appropriately in maintaining discipline.”

The statement reaffirmed New Nation School’s commitment to providing quality education within a disciplined framework, emphasizing that the institution adheres to both legal and ethical standards.

“We strive to instill responsible behavior in our students while respecting their rights,” Dr. Onah added.

New Nation School has urged the public to disregard the erroneous media reports and instead seek the full and accurate details of the court’s ruling.

The school also expressed its openness to engage with anyone seeking further clarification on the matter.
