According to reports, six people narrowly avoided death when a Nigerian Air Force plane traveling from Ilorin to Lagos crashed after losing its tires.

The NAF’s Cessna Citation CJ3 maritime patrol plane was on a regular flight yesterday when, according to the NAF, one of its tires failed during a touch-and-go maneuver in Ilorin.

The aircraft was forced to make a controlled belly landing at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport as a result.

Air Commodore Wapkerem Maigida, the director of NAF Public Relations, stated in a statement:

“For the most part, there were no fatalities or injuries to any crew members or anyone on the ground.”

“The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, has directed the immediate constitution of a Board of Inquiry to determine the cause(s) of the accident.

“The NAF continues to solicit the understanding and support of the general public as it daily strives to ensure the security of Nigeria and Nigerians.“
