Work On Suame Roads Begins Hours After Artisans Chased Out MP

Some residents of the Suame constituency have expressed biggest anger over the degree of underdevelopment in the area especially the deplorable roads in the city by attacking Hon Osei-Kyei Mensah Bonsu, the Member of Parliament for the constituency.

The Majority Leader was chased and pelted with stones when he visited the area on Monday to calm the demonstrating mob down.

Residents were protesting over the underdevelopment in the area after they voted massively for President Akufo-Addo and even after the MP had been in parliament for over 22 years.

They had complained about the deplorable roads in the Suame constituency and were demanding the MP to get it done.

A different story might have been told on Monday, July 18, if not for the timely intervention of the Majority Leader of Ghana’s Eighth Parliament’s bodyguard.

Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu was whisked away from the snare of angry Suame magazine artisans by the police officer.

Work have already began on roads in the Suame constituency just a day after the MP was chased and stoned.

According to available video, contractors have been deleted to the site where they are already laying asphalt on major roads in the constituency.

Last Thursday, artisans took to the streets and blocked roads to express their concern about how the poor road network has harmed their livelihoods.

The Majority Leader’s visit to the industrial hub was part of efforts to assess the situation and whip contractors into line, but he was met by irate artisans.

The artisans can be seen in a video hooting at Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu to express their frustration and disappointment.
