Gov’t Slashes Nursing Admission Form Cost to GH₵150

The Ministry of Health has announced a major reduction in the cost of admission forms for health training institutions across Ghana.

For the 2025/2026 academic year, the price of application forms has been cut from GH₵200 to GH₵150 — a move welcomed by many aspiring students and their families.

The sale of forms will begin on Tuesday, 22nd April 2025, and will continue until Thursday, 19th June 2025, according to an official statement from the Ministry.

The Ministry explained that the reduction is part of a larger strategy to make health education more accessible and affordable, particularly for students from low-income backgrounds.

“This decision is expected to provide financial relief to prospective students and their families,” the statement said. “It also supports our broader goal of improving enrolment and equity in health training institutions across the country.”

A Step Toward Opportunity

For many young Ghanaians dreaming of becoming nurses, midwives, or other healthcare professionals, the cost of admission forms has often been a barrier.

By lowering the price, the government hopes to encourage more people to apply and pursue careers in health — a sector that continues to be vital to the country’s development.

Stakeholders in the education and health sectors have already begun praising the move, calling it a timely intervention that supports talent development and job creation.

“This will give many brilliant but financially challenged students a better shot at getting into the health sector,” said one education advocate.

Official Channels Only

The Ministry also reminded applicants and the general public to purchase forms only from authorized banks. These are:

  • GCB Bank PLC
  • Agricultural Development Bank (ADB)

Applicants are warned to avoid buying forms from unauthorized individuals or online sources, as these may be fake or fraudulent.

The Ministry emphasized that all guidelines for the application process will be published in the coming days to help applicants navigate the system with ease.

Looking Ahead

As Ghana works to strengthen its healthcare system, especially in the wake of global health challenges, investing in education and training remains a top priority.

With this price reduction, the Ministry is not only helping students take a step closer to their dreams but also ensuring the country is equipped with skilled professionals for the future.
